First Actual Rambling Podcast!

The Podcast Journey   First Actual Rambling Podcast   I’ve completed and posted my first actual rambling podcast. It’s really Vegas Ramblings #3, but I actually ramble on about a subject instead of complaining about equipment. I thought about using some music in the background but decided I would just talk. I don’t have much royalty free music that I like, so I figured why force something into the podcast that I didn’t like. I may figure something out soon, though. It's hard not to laugh. I can hear myself and maybe I was a bit too entertained with the “Depth” knob that I have that makes my voice echo kind of like if I’m in a bathroom stall. But I did try to stay somewhat focused on 1922. I’m not really familiar as I could be with that year. It’s been a long time since I was in history class and really, I just wrote down some notes to reference and then rambled on about them. Was it entertaining? I don’t know. I guess we’ll see if three people listen to it this time. I

No Directions!

The Podcast Journey   No Directions   Now I have some podcasting equipment and a new microphone. I’ve hooked things up to my computer, but to be honest, I have no idea how any of this stuff works. When I’ve tried to use Anchor to record small bits for a podcast, some things work, and some things don’t. I can hear some things in my headphones, but they don’t seem to record. I’m not sure why this is happening because I really don’t have any directions for this thing. I’m going to have to play with it and see what’s going on. I know it’s kind of working, and the microphone does sound really good, but why can’t I hear any background music? Why don’t the sounds I record on buttons play on the recording? I’m not sure about some of this stuff. This may take some time. I can always just talk for my podcast, which is probably what I’m supposed to be doing. Sound effects, or music, or not, I’ll have to come up with something to record and talk about for next week. This may be a sho
The Podcast Journey   Sounds and Equipment And the podcast journey moves forward. I’ve settled on some equipment and placed an order. I decided I wanted to go with a Moano AME2A board. As far as I know, that is one of the newest that Moano have produced. It should come with a fairly good microphone, so I’ll at least get an improvement to the sound of my voice. And it also comes with 11 customizable sound buttons. At first, I was confused about how to program in sound effects to those buttons, but after watching a few things on YouTube, I think I’ve figured out how it’s going to work. It seems you can learn pretty much anything you want from YouTube. My podcasting equipment won’t arrive until this Friday, but for now I’ve been looking up sound effects online, and there are a LOT of them! I should be able to find any kind of laughter, or applause, or even boos that I want to download to the customizable buttons. I can find cartoon sounds, character voices, storms, and all kinds
The Podcast Journey   Figuring things out   To start out with, what is a podcast? In simple terms, it’s like talking on the radio, but it’s an online thing. You don’t broadcast at a certain time, you just upload whatever you record and people can download and listen to it whenever they want. Or people can totally ignore you. A podcast can be just you talking about something, or you interviewing someone. It can be about zombies, or writing, or really anything you want. It’s your show, so you can pick the subject and format. “But what if no one listens?” you might ask. Well, no one will be listening to start with. You need to find your audience. I think for me, I’ll just be talking to let off some steam. I used to write a blog and rant about things, now maybe I’ll do a podcast and just rant about things with my voice. Someone may listen eventually. If nothing else, when I finish my time on this earth, family will still be able to go back and hear my past thoughts in my own vo
